Hair Organizers
On Tuesdays, I would like to start posting about different organizing solutions (unless there’s something else I just have to post about!) If you have a question about how to organize any part of your home, please leave a comment and I will try to do some research on what products are out there that would help. Ribbons, pony tail holders, bobby pins, barrettes, head bands…. Girls like them all. Our hair ribbons especially need some organization. Here are some ideas I found. Lil’ Bow Keep has this adorable little organizer for $30. Babylocks Hair Clips has these for $10. This one is Designs by Joy. Here’s a DIY organizer…

The Week in Review 8/29/10
Russell’s oldest brother turned 50 this week and so we celebrated with the family. Being the helpful souls we are we gave him a cane to help him out in his grand “old” age. The traditional birthday cake in my husbands family is angel food cake, topped with whipped cream and served with berries. Berries make anything taste good! God’s candy, my husband says. Audrey was in to picnics this week. She took her dad one day and then she had another one the next day. I joined in on that one. The spot was really pretty cozy. It was like a little hideaway with only one opening. And it…

Part II – Starting to Homeschool Your Young Child?
In Part I of Starting to Homeschool Your Young Child, we discussed the negative effects of starting schoolwork too young and instead approaching learning in a more informal fashion. Today, I would like to offer you a few more ideas as to other ways a child can learn at this young age (3-6 years). These are only a few suggestions; there are probably many more out there and I’d love to hear your contributions. Children love to help their mommy’s when they are so very little. Do not discourage them. Yes, you could do the job faster and better than your small child but this is a tremendous learning time that…

Part I – Starting to Homeschool Your Young Child?
Are you thinking to begin homeschooling your child and he/she is only 3 or 4? May I give you a few cautions and some suggestions? I have met many moms who believe they should start their child at age 3 or 4 because their child is READY. Their child already knows the alphabet and maybe can even count to 100. They are so smart. They are READY to learn. I agree that these children are ready to learn but not in the way most parents want to teach. In our society we have been trained to think the public way of education is the only way – sit at a desk and complete your work.…

The Week in Review 8/22/10
What a blessing it was to have visitors for the day from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Never having shot a gun before, they were quite excited for the opportunity and we were happy to oblige. Living adjacent to State Land we are able to shoot right off our balcony and the boys do so frequently. Have to keep up on those marksmanship skills! Just in case you’re not sure that white boy in the back is not from the Congo – that’s Wesley! 🙂 A little rock climbing for the adventurous… and a rest afterwards. That sums up the most exciting that happened this week. What happened at…
