Our Backyard Chicken Coop
I mentioned to you on Monday that I had a few boys here visiting and decided to put everyone to work enlarging my chicken enclosure. I am so pleased with how it turned out. First, I’ll show you our enclosure then our chicken coop. I have the most adorable little chicks, purchased a week ago. They are Buff Orpington’s and Rhode Island Reds. I had ordered through the mail, Auracanas & Black Australorps. They are 3 weeks old in this picture. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to mix 3 day old chicks with these 3 week old chicks but it was no problem. The older ones did not hurt them in…

Week in Review 3-27 – 4-2-2011
A Week in Review has been missing around here lately but it’s back today! Zachary is going to have his own bee hives. He has 20,000 bees coming this month and 2 bee hives set up to receive them. He also has taken it upon himself with my deepest gratitude blessing to teach his sister the bee business, too. Discussing bee habits. Visitors from Canada came by for a few days and bestowed upon us some donuts – something that has never been seen in our home before but was eaten with gusto. Of course, it goes without saying that Miss Audrey liked them! With the help of a few…

Menu Plan Monday – April 4
I am so so happy with the monthly menu plan I put together a little over a week ago. I didn’t have to think all week long about what Iwas having for supper and I didn’t feel boxed in by having my meals planned out. I almost made everything on the list – we ended up having left-overs from the previous week on Monday so that threw all my meals off by a day, so we skipped Thursday’s plan of having BBQ Chicken & rice. That worked out okay since the chicken was frozen. For today I had Beef Pie planned but some friends at our church gave us a nice amount…

Monthly Menu Plan for April
I did it! I actually set down and figured out a menu for the whole month of April. The first 3 weeks went quickly but figuring out the 4th week took the longest. As I have a tendency to do, I wrote out mostly all new recipes. I have a weakness that way. I have some tried and true recipes but I find that many recipes are just mediocre and I’d rather move along to something else. Of course many times I tend to fall back on those meals I can cook easily without a whole lot of effort. What helped me the most in planning this menu was having the categories for…

Lego Creation Thursday – March 24
Michele from My Blessings From Above throws a LEGO Party each week where you can link up your child’s LEGO creations. I thought that Justus might want to join and he did. And of course Miss Audrey wanted to also. 🙂 And now… for this weeks LEGO Creation I give you Justus’ fine automobile… Audrey made one of her own vehicles with a tongue sticking out on the front. But you probably didn’t need me to explain that did you? Thanks Michele for hosting this. The kids were quite “proud” to be featured on a LEGO post.
