A Couples Dinner Party

I like small intimate dinner parties. I don’t get to host them too often as I’m usually hosting or planning a large event here at the house and if I want any quiet time at all I have to refrain from filling all my days  but I did it for my son and daughter-in-law who were here from Canada and it was so much fun.

It was not supposed to be a Valentine’s dinner but it was a couples dinner and it was near Valentine’s so it evolved into that sort of party.

The name cards were made by my daughter. I loved how she stitched the name to the card.

After a little pre-dinner activity of croquet it was time to eat.

Serenity and Wesley were to assist me in serving and Audrey and my husband were to babysit the grandbabies, but Wesley got off the hook pretty easily because Chantel showed up. So I let them and Wesley bomb the couples dinner.

Newlyweds (you might have read this post about their wedding)

After a lengthy dinner time discussion and each couple saying what they appreciated about their spouse, we moved into the living room for the “Shoe” game.

That was fun.

My grandbabies joined us for the game.

Little Tirzah with her auntie.

The evening was finished off with some singing. It was lovely.

Who knows, maybe this will become an annual thing when my son and his wife come to visit.

Do you celebrate Valentine’s in a special way or ignore it entirely?

What a lovely event! The name cards really added a nice touch, I like the idea of stitching them.
We acknowledge Valentine’s Day but we don’t go crazy over it 🙂

I like the idea of Valentine’s because although you want to make every day a good day to be together, sometimes you get caught up in the rush of life but something like Valentine’s makes you stop and focus on that sweetheart of yours.

THIS IS SO CUTE!!! Beautiful job, once again! The shoe game is one of my absolute favorite “Couple” games. Always brings smiles and laughter.

We always try to do something special on Valentines. Last year we gave each other gifts, this year we went out on a date while Grandma kept the girls. It’s always nice to take time out for each other. 🙂 🙂

That looks like lots of fun!! Our Valentine’s varies depending on how busy life is at the moment. The last few years I have just fixed a nicer meal and had some sort of small gift for our kids at their plateand enjoyed the evening with our kids. This year with my sister sick I prepared her a meal (and my kids) and had some surprises for them and then after we dropped that off I surprised Darren and had a place reserved at a nice restaurant he has been talking about wanting to go back to (only been there once and that was the night of luke and Ariel’s engagement). I’ll have to say it was a perfect evening in so many ways.
