Backyard Update
There’s been such a flurry of activity around here between kids going to camps and working on our backyard. Yes, we still have a lot to accomplish in the backyard. Much of it are things that are more “behind the scenes” like electrical wiring.
The deadline is August 13 when my daughter, Serenity, has her high school graduation party. My fourth child to graduate. I can hardly believe I will have more than half of my children finished with their homeschooling journey!
In the last post, which was over a week ago, I shared pictures of the sod being laid and how the yard was transformed in one day from dirt to grass.
After working about 12 hours that day, the yard was leveled and the sod completely done.
Completed!
For two weeks they are hand watering this beautiful patch of green. The pvc pipes you see in the lawn are for the sprinkler system which is still to be installed.
A little close-up of our water feature. Love it so much!
The far right, where the dirt is, is where we are putting a swing set for our grandbabies. Our own children didn’t have a swingset much in their growing up years but we’re getting one for those grandchildren that are starting to come! 🙂 Behind that block wall, the dirt is almost to the top and we’ll finish it off with some plants. Plants that are hardy! After all, this is Arizona where only the hardy survive. Lights will also be installed in the wall.
And our pergola with its pretty little lights and which still has been undergoing some little fixes that it needed. The white wire that you see so predominantly is for the kitchen area and that little pipe coming out of the ground by it is for the kitchen sink. This won’t be completed till after the graduation. I’m wanting to ask family members for some more thoughts on the designing of it all.
We love our pergola!

It was SOOOOOOO beautiful, Elisabeth! What a place of recharge and retreat you all have created. Can’t wait to see how the kitchen turns out and what all you decided on it!

It’s fabulous! What a monumental task, but it’s looking amazing!

Hi Elisabeth,
Wow! What an amazing project you have going on. The grass is so green and the water feature looks very pleasing and calming. This is my first time hearing of the word pergola, but doing a quick Google search has given me the answer. So, are you going to have the garden in the corner where the taller and wider tree is?
