Habit Training for Ourselves and Our Children – Part I
Habits. When I think about them I usually am reminded of all the things I do that I don’t want to do and of course there are all the things that I want to do that I don’t do, like exercise (groan), eating less sweets and saying positive things to those around me. But I have also seen the benefit of good habits in my life. Habits that were instilled in me as a child. They are such a part of me that I don’t have to think, I just do. It requires no mental effort on my part because they are so engrained in my brain to do such and such. We all…

Commercial Ice Fishing in Canada
It is interesting to see the different flavors of people. For example, I’m quite happy if my house is at least 75°F and get cold very quickly if I step outside to “chilly weather.” Then there’s my son who spent a month and a half in Canada this past November/December. The weather outside would down to -22°F some days and it didn’t bother him a bit! He went there to learn how to commercial ice fish. My sister-in-law’s family has a commercial fishing operation that operates in both the summer and winter. A view of the frozen lake with an island right in the middle where you see the trees. An Unusual Place for an Engagement Party
Did you know it is possible to throw an engagement party in an airport? My dear husband decided we should welcome back the happily engaged couple who had went, along with my son, to a youth retreat in Tennessee and then up to visit friends in Michigan, as well. It was a red-eye flight, the airport was quietening down after a day of thousands bustling through its corridors. Restaurants had closed but not before we had received permission to set up in one of them. Justus and Audrey were so happy to see their brother Zachary. Since he became engaged they have really latched on to him. Pretty nice, Russell. Pretty nice. (I think he…

A Fun Hello Kitty Party
I finally got my act together and gave Audrey her 7th birthday party. Her birthday was at Thanksgiving time but you know how busy the holiday season can be, so missy didn’t get one until this past weekend. It was her very first birthday party she’s had where she got to invite friends and she was so excited, not to mention helpful in the planning. She chose the theme Hello Kitty. I found plenty of inspiration online for the party and then this great Hello Kitty birthday printables kit for FREE by Shery K Designs was perfect. The printables are adorable and the variety of items to use are just great. These…

My Son is Engaged!
January 1, 2013 will always be memorable in that fact that my son, Zachary became engaged. The same Zachary that graduated in August 2011 and the same one whose life was spared in an auto accident in 2011 From a tiny little boy – only 7lbs. 1oz…. He grew up on me. He’s known Hannah for about 4 years but they didn’t start courting till this past October. He was already a goner before he started courting Hannah, so you can imagine what he was like after. 🙂 He is so happy and I’m thrilled that the Lord has given him the desires of his heart – a wonderful Christian girl who will…
