We Have Arrived in Austria – Part Two of Day 1
We booked our hotel online here in Vienna while in Arizona. After driving around for at least an hour here in Vienna, getting lost and then finding ourselves and then trying to find a park that was reasonably close to our hotel, we parked and started walking. (We’re staying in historic Old Town Vienna). We were understandably confused when our GPS said we had arrived and there was no sign of a hotel. Finally Russell saw a small sign that said Aviano Boutique Hotel. The “grand opening” was a mere 3′ across and the building itself was sandwiched between two much larger businesses. Peeking in the door, we were wondering…

We Have Arrived in Austria – Day 1
Celebrating 25 years of marriage 4 years late can be pretty nice, too and that’s exactly what we’re doing. We have embarked on an anniversary getaway/adventure to Austria. Neither one of us has ever been here, so it’s all going to be new and exciting. The beginnings of our trip did not lead us to think it would be any different than other vacations we have taken in the past. There’s always plenty of adventure and uncertainty to be had. A Handy Tip for All Those Small Appliances You Have Grouped Together
My pantry… I’ve posted about it before with all the messy before pictures and the satisfying after pictures but it doesn’t magically stay nice and tidy. For me it’s one of those things that require my attention occasionally. It just went though a thorough cleaning again. I’m loving the open floor. I was tripping over things. Now, I can actually walk in there and turn around without some type of calamity happening. This is hard to look at, I know. It’s almost never this bad but it had reached an all time low. But look! It cleaned up real well. 🙂 My appliance counter before. Just awful!!…

A Couples Dinner Party
I like small intimate dinner parties. I don’t get to host them too often as I’m usually hosting or planning a large event here at the house and if I want any quiet time at all I have to refrain from filling all my days but I did it for my son and daughter-in-law who were here from Canada and it was so much fun. It was not supposed to be a Valentine’s dinner but it was a couples dinner and it was near Valentine’s so it evolved into that sort of party. The name cards were made by my daughter. I loved how she stitched the name to…

The Castle Keeper Girls Learn to Embroidery
There is something so satisfying about working with your hands and practicing creativity. Recently the CK girls learned the basics of embroidery and I loved what they produced. The girls first traced the pattern that was provided onto a piece of muslin. Every girl was given their own green skein of embroidery floss and then there were several other colors the girls could choose from to complete their project. Basics like how to use the embroidery floss had to be taught because you never know what kids will conjure up in their imaginations of how to use it. It’s good to expose the…
