• The Impact of One Small Choice

How many decisions do you think we make in a lifetime? I think it would be safe to say millions. Maybe they all don’t appear to be earth shattering on the surface, like the day we gave our hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ or the day we said “yes” to our Prince or maybe when some made a decision to move to a different state. Most of our decisions are probably small. They seem so small that we don’t consciously stop to think about the impact they might have on our life. But they do have an impact, either for the better or for the worse. Let me use…

  • Before and After Pictures of a Rental Property Set-up

Here are those photos of Seth’s little beauty 😉 that I promised I would post pictures of. It took him 4 months to get it all set up. Part of the time he was working on just getting the title released so he could have the trailer moved. Many hours was put into it and a lot of self-education came with it, too. Looking towards the kitchen. Looking into the living room. The previous owners apparently wanted an office more than a bathroom, so all bathroom fixtures had been removed. Although the plumbing was there underneath the flooring, Seth reconfigured the bathroom. He added a laundry area and a small…

  • What is the Goal in Our Children’s Education?

Mom’s do you have a vision for your children’s education? Whether we are able to articulate it or not we are all operating from some premise of thought of what we think education for our children should look like. The decisions we make about their schooling move us along in that vision. As you may know, I love the writings of Charlotte Mason, an 18th century educator who had an incredible understanding and appreciation of children.  Many of her thoughts you will find mingled with my writing but I would encourage you to read her books for yourself. The scope of the various types of education people can give their…

  • A Four Thousand Mile Road Trip

We just arrived home from youth camp.  It was a really enjoyable time.  Here’s a quick overview of the trip. Before the trip began.  All fresh and ready to hit the road. The campground was at a new location and overall, I think it’s better.   There was a zipline that almost all of us ladies had to try.  Of course, there was lots of screaming. 🙂 Excellent preaching – I really liked the object lesson here. Because I was a worker at the camp, Audrey was able to be a camper. She had a great time joining in on the activities, and reciting and singing with her dorm in…

  • A Nasty Surprise

This post was originally posted in September 2006. It’s an experience we have never forgotten & still remember quite well, especially Wesley. 🙂 Warning: The following is not for the squeamish! ItÂ’s all this books fault. Until a few days ago I thought praying mantises were cute little fellas. I even contemplated holding one which for me is a pretty big thing. IÂ’m one of those whose idea of a knight in shining armor is someone who will nab that SCARY bug before it nabs me! It sounded like a great experience to take some bugs from our yard and learn about them. So, my dear children and me took…
