• Make 2017 Your Best Year Ever

Happy New Year! It’s quite shocking to think how quickly 2016 went by, but here we are – January 3, 2017. What will we do with this year? How will we make it count? Are we making the most important thing the most important thing? Is this the year we can finally lay aside all our grudges and differences and just choose to be happy? Instead of focusing on what others are doing wrong, could we change our viewpoint and look for the good in each other? Life is too short to dwell in the mollygrubs. It’s easy for us ladies to let our emotions rule us and especially as…

  • A Merry Christmas with Family

Hello friends, how was your Christmas? We had a great time with family. It was quite busy with there being 33 of us here. For the weekend, Serenity put together a hot drink station using my Hoosier cabinet. I love this piece of furniture! Chalkboard signs are so fun. My oldest son, Seth arrived home from Canada on Friday night. The kids excitedly ran outside to greet him that night when he drove in. He drove 30 hours with only 6 hours sleep to make it here by Friday night. Christmas Eve it started snowing and I was outside grilling… for about an hour! Family started to arrive…after awhile. Some…

  • Decorating Cookies for Christmas

Only 3 more days till Christmas! More family is arriving today (my mom and dad came Sunday) and so lots of little details are getting finished. Mom and my girls helped decorate cookies yesterday. I was glad for their help because decorating cookies can be rather long and tedious.   Please excuse that stray arm on the left. It really does below to somebody. haha   This year it’s Christmas with my side of the family, which I usually host, so I’m doing the planning. I’ve asked each family to bring 1 dozen cookies for Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve supper is going to be a Bruschetta bar. I’m really excited…

  • Making Progress on the Cabin (VRBO)

Just a quick update on the VRBO. My parents arrived last night so we’ll be busy doing all the last minute preparations that have to be done. The cabin will be livable but not complete finished when everyone is here. But it’s lookin’ good! The bathroom wall is now up. The bathroom wall behind the tub looks so pretty but unfortunately that will be covered once the tub sides go in. A loft that can be used for storage. Windows and doors are some of the big things that need to be done this week. And that’s the update for now.

  • A Winter Mantle of Candles, Pinecones, Lights and Some Joy Mixed In

I’m getting excited. Christmas is almost here and family will be arriving next week. My son, Seth will be home and he’ll be staying until his wedding in February. So many things to look forward to.   Lots of planning still to do. Thirty-five people staying here. We’d better get that cabin completed! I’m brainstorming ideas for activities we can do with the family. We started a tradition two years ago of playing the game crokinole but I want to add a prize to it. At first I thought I’d get a trophy that would be given to the winner every time we have Christmas together (which is every other…
