A Simple Valentine’s Day Tablescape
♥ I interrupt our regular India trip reports to bring you a simple, inexpensive Valentine’s Day tablescape. ♥ I cut a long piece of butcher paper (you can buy a large roll at one of the bulk warehouses) and just painted red x’s and o’s all over it. A tribute to India at Serenity’s place. (carved elephant she brought home as a souvenir) For the first time in 27 years of marriage we had rib-eye steak. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever bought any kind of steak before. Ninety-nine per cent of our meat consumption is elk that we have hunted. It was a big treat…

India Trip – Part IV
She’s coming home! Two weeks and a few days since we sent Serenity off to India where she learned to eat Indian style (with her hands), was able to see wild monkeys running freely in the village, meet the natives and love on the little children. I have many pictures to share. Some are not the best quality but I love them just the same. First time to have coconut milk straight from the coconut. Afterwards, you scoop out the meat. Visiting a very old temple one day where she actually saw someone offering a sacrifice. We are so very thankful to this man and his…

India Trip Part III
If you all could hear the pure happiness in my daughter’s voice as she tells me about her days in India, you would know why I am just so happy that she had the opportunity to make this trip. As moms, we desire for our children to have good experiences, to make special memories and to get a broader vision of why we are here on earth. To realize that America has been undeniably blessed but because we have not known hardship for the most part, we have become soft and ungrateful. Serenity was only in India for a few days before she realized those things. They live a…

India Trip Part II
I’m delighted to be able to give you an update on Serenity. Friday night she left for India and after 30 hours of travel time, she arrived in Hyderabad. You can read about her journey here. After her arrival in India she spent a few days in Hyderabad where she went to a Exhibition. The Exhibition is put on annually and is located on a large parcel of land with hundreds of individual stalls. And it looks like she got herself another ice cream! The young lady she is standing with is her host’s daughter. Chinese food in Hyderabad. Here’s a short video of the congested, busy traffic. After being…

Making a Breakfast Plan
Well thanks, ladies for your input on some of the challenges you face in homemaking. I have plenty of challenges, too. I think they are always present. Just when you think you’ve got it down, there comes a new phase of life and then you have to rethink your ways of doing things. I think one of my dreads is breakfast and wouldn’t you know it(!) – it’s my husband’s favorite meal of the day! He can skip almost any other meal, but don’t miss making him breakfast. Even some of my boys says it’s their favorite meal. What’s a mother to do in this situation? 🙂 Since we married…
