Castle Keeper Girls’ End of the Year Outing
Last week we celebrated the 6 Castle Keeper girls who received the highest award at the end-of-the-year-party. We had a grand time but our original plans were changed since my husband sprained his ankle almost a month ago and still isn’t able to get around without crutches. (If you don’t know what Castle Keepers is, you can read about it here.) So instead of our first plan of a canoe trip, we went to the big city – Phoenix. First stop was glow in the dark golf which isn’t as fun as regular mini golf but it’s a good thing to do when it’s hot and humid outside and since…

And the After… After Youth Camp – Part II
After the youth camp ended, we traveled to Ohio. We were invited to a homeschooler’s high school graduation party (the best!) for some friends of ours that used to live in Arizona and we were delighted that we could attend. I received a knock on my hotel door the next day with a voice saying in an accent, “Room Service.” I opened the door and this is what I found. I could not help but laugh. Of course, we had to take the kids to this amazing nursery and tell them all about how God gave this family their business. They just happen to have this nice pond….…

Going to Youth Camp – An Annual Event – Part I
Believers Youth Camp in July. It’s a favorite time of year for all of us and Russell and I are privileged to be a part of it because we go as workers and since we drive a van load of young people. Even though this trip was right in the middle of all the commotion of the Goodwin Fire, we could not disappoint the kids but had to get them to camp. All these young people were not in one van but two vehicles although we would be willing to try to all get in one! Because of the forest fire, we left a day later and left in…

Flash Flooding After the Goodwin Fire
Well I hope this post doesn’t bore you but I thought I’d let you see some photos and video footage of flash flooding in Arizona. The volume of water in this particular flash flood is specifically due to the Goodwin Fire. In Arizona, because of the scarcity of rain we love our monsoon season with its thunderstorms and the moisture it brings that waters the earth and greens everything up for a season. It brings the temperatures down and just feels so refreshing. Wednesday we had an epic monsoon storm. Without much warning (no sprinkling at all), the sky just let loose and didn’t stop for about 30 minutes. Since…

The Goodwin Fire Showed God is in Control of Even the Elements
We arrived home from our cross country trip to Indiana where we took a group of young people to a youth camp. It was a good time as always but after we came home I was anxious to walk our property, so curious to see exactly where the fire burned. The valley where we live has been forever changed. Where once it was so thick with brush you could hardly walk through it, it is now so open that we are seeing areas that we never saw before. Before, when I saw an animal I knew it was a larger one such as a deer but now my brain is…
