• A Third Trip to Havasupai – Day 1

The weather was beautiful, the people lovely and the scenery spectacular. Havasupai 2017 did not disappoint. We left the house about 4:30am. In past years, we’ve always met up with some of our other hikers at another location but this year they were all staying at my house so we didn’t stop at our usual breakfast stop but traveled further along. Eating in the cool morning air at 6:30 in the morning just didn’t sound appealing. But the morning warmed up and we found a little spot on the side of the road to eat our simple breakfast of yogurt and cereal.     Cousins making memories together.   Once…

  • Kayaking Watson Lake and Viewing the Vistas

By the time you read this post we’ll be down at the bottom of Havasupai. Our 3rd time to trek in to see this most beautiful place. We’ve had people flying in since Thursday and this time we did something we had never done before and that was to visit a local place called Watson Lake where we rented kayak’s.   It was quite enjoyable. Although they do not prorate the rentals, I think 1 1/2 hours would be ideal. It’s not a large lake.   There’s also a walking/bicycle trail that goes around the lake.   Of course, we had some climbers in our small group. 🙂    …

  • When Your Children Grow Up

It’s one month since we waved Wesley off as he caught a flight to Canada. He joined up with my oldest son and his wife and they then traveled on to British Columbia for a 2 month stint as hunting guides/wrangler in the Canadian wilderness. I had to send a few care packages which was my homemade granola and a Scripture verse on the package to remind Wesley to ‘Rise and Shine’ even if it is at the crack of dawn.   I’m so ready to see him again. He’s the kind of boy that makes his presence known when he’s around!   But adventure called…. oh wait, that was…

  • Castle Keepers Learn to Quilt

I don’t think I knew what I was taking on which was probably a good thing. It was our monthly class for Castle Keepers and it was my turn to teach. 10 Castle Keeper girls and most with little experience on a sewing machine. That, however, wasn’t the problem.  The problem was trying to teach them all the proper way to cut fabric and that took so much time and all my attention.   The girls decided they learned more than how to cut fabric. They learned patience as well.   They worked for quite a long time cutting fabric.   Serenity was a big blessing – volunteering to help…

  • A Wedding Reception in a Barn – So Chic

The reception for Luke and Zoe was held in a newly built barn. Apparently, the original barn had been destroyed in a fire on this working farm and the owners rebuilt and used it for their daughter’s wedding and are now going to rent it out for events.   It was a lovely venue, so beautiful inside that decorations were hardly needed. Before the reception started, there was appetizers at the back of the barn. A lovely drink station was also stationed here.   Nut breads, crackers with cheese and meat along with fruit was served on top of pallets piled one on top of another. I didn’t get there…
