• A Farm Themed Potluck

Nine years since our church moved into our new church building. It’s hard for us to believe. Having a dedicated church building is a wonderful privilege and blessing. Through my childhood years and even after we were married, I’ve had church many times in the living rooms of fellow Believers but there’s nothing like having a place set aside to worship the Lord each week and I am very thankful for ours. To show a little friendship with visitors who come during this weekend, we like to have a church potluck on the Saturday of our meetings and most always we have the potluck in our backyard. Now I would…

  • A Pile of Mismatched Socks and Something Else

It was a lovely fall day, the windows were open with a cool breeze wafting through and after our recent hike to Havasupai we were enjoying a leisurely day with the houseful of young people that had stayed over. Some of the boys were playing a game of RISK.   And some of the girls were cleaning. I can handle houseguests like that! 🙂 A few were cleaning bathrooms and a few were doing some laundry. Enter the pile of socks. I have a pile of socks …make that a few piles of socks. One pile is in the folding basket and takes up half of the basket(!) and then…

  • A Third Trip to Havasupai – Day 4

Friday dawned and our group started hiking out of Havasupai in small groups as they were ready to leave.               For my nephew, Russell and myself, we stayed a little longer because we were riding the horses out of the canyon. Russell’s ankle was still giving him some issues and Enoch had turned his ankle while at Havasupai. So, I joined them. 🙂 $85 one-way and you are allowed to carry a day pack.     They said it would take 2 1/2 hours to get out of Havasupai…   …but it only took us 1 1/2 hours as we trotted and galloped our…

  • A Third Trip to Havasupai – Day 3

In past years, on the third day, we would be hiking out but this year we decided to stay an day. It was a nice relaxing day visiting Navajo & Havasu Falls but there were some that hiked to Beaver again! They wanted to do more cliff jumping.   Havasu Falls was where Russell and I went first. There were some that climbed the slippery moss covered rocks to get to a place under the falls where they could jump. We stayed a good amount of time and even witnessed someone getting engaged – the second engagement we saw while at Havasupai.   Navajo Falls, we have found, is the…

  • A Third Trip to Havasupai – Day 2

Russell started off the morning with the continental breakfast offered by the Lodge. 🙂   Going to Havasupai in September the weather was much nicer in the mornings. Preparing to have devotions before hiking out for the day.     Parts of Navajo Falls had changed. The reeds were very thick and tall in some areas. We are wondering if they die out in the winter and come back in the summer because we’ve never seen so many here. In another post I’ll show you more of Navajo Falls because we didn’t stop here on this day for long. Our main goal was to hike 5.5 miles one way to…
