An Off Road Foray and a Stop at Coastal Mist
Being born and raised in Arizona on the hot burning sands of the desert (not really but that’s the image most have of AZ), my kids love the ocean…. even when it’s not the nicest weather. Out hotel at Gold Beach, Oregon was located next to the ocean and the kids were so excited to run in the water and try to escape the larger incoming waves. We left Gold Beach and continued on but we didn’t get very far before one of my dear children (Serenity) mentioned how fun it would be to climb this large rock that was sticking up out of the edge of the…

Visiting the Coastal Redwoods
Traveling up the west coast in November makes you remember why there is such a thing as the off-season. It has been cold, rainy and wet. We are headed to Vancouver for a family friend’s wedding and now, by the time this is posted, the wedding is over and we’re headed back home. we are home. A Non-Sterling Experience at Sterling Restaurant
Sometimes the spice of life is the unexpected and other times the unexpected brings the worst kind of surprise. We gave each other questioning looks as we pulled into our parking spot since the sign and grounds looked a little in disrepair but hey, our papa wanted to eat…

An 80th Birthday Celebration
We were so blessed last week to travel to Illinois to see my parents and to celebrate their 80th birthdays with them. They were both born within a week of each other. My sisters and myself, along with the youngest child in each family all went to celebrate with them. What a sweet time we had together. I love where my parents live. It’s a small town but they live in the countryside and Autumn is so pretty there. I don’t see many colored leaves here at my house, so seeing the beautiful tree they have in their backyard with red leaves was beautiful to me. …

Cooking Roast in the Ground & Elk Hunting Camp 2017
Elk Hunting Camp 2017 is officially over. It was a small group this year – only about 22 of us – but we still had a good time despite the wind on the first day. I put together this little video of our camping trip that you might enjoy watching. I wanted to share with you a little more about the deep pit cooking we do one night. Before we left home, we took chuck roast and seasoned it with salt, pepper and garlic powder, placed some sliced onion along with rosemary from our garden on top, wrapped it in parchment paper and then in 3 layers of foil. I…
