• A Winter Party Hosted by the Castle Keeper Girls

The CK girls hosted their 3rd Winter Party and did a fabulous job once again.   It was such a fun evening with lots of laughs. The menu was: 4 different soups breadsticks 2 salads and a variety of Christmas time desserts   For activities they planned: a mixer where you had to get signatures from different ones according to whether they had ever did what was listed on the paper decorating gingerbread houses Christmas carol charades   As you know by now, I like putting together slide shows, so here is one of our evening. I’m definitely not a professional. I need some skills, people. haha But here it…

  • Castle Keeper Girls Complete Their Quilts

The Castle Keeper girls were able to finish up the quilts they had begun a few months ago at November’s class. So many beautiful fabrics were chosen by the girls and they learned a lot – from how to cut fabric properly to learning how important it is to sew a straight line, to seeing the different steps that are involved in making a quilt. 🙂 They learned to persevere as they cut squares and sewed them all together. Tip:  One thing I would encourage all ladies who are wanting to learn to sew is be sure you have a good working machine. Many get discouraged with sewing if their…

  • Our Thanksgiving 2017 Tablescape

While all the other blogs are on to Christmas I’m just getting to our Thanksgiving. Well, I guess that’s just the way it is in my life. I still have all my fall decorations to put away which I hope to do this weekend!  It’s done! Anyways, just a quick post today about our Thanksgiving. I perused the web for a few ideas for a tablescape and it all came together quite effortlessly. I had this beautiful bouquet as my centerpiece and I took it, along with the vase it came in, and set it directly in my vintage kettle, which incidentally I use at our hunting camp each year.…

  • Enchanted Forests & Wedding Vows

Our days at the ocean over, we continued up the coast. We passed these “enchanted” forests where everything was covered in moss.   I had never seen anything like it before.   Seattle, Washington was an interesting blend of old and new.   After a week traveling up the coast we arrived in Canada for the main reason we were on this trip – the wedding of a family friend. The day of the wedding arrived and we made haste to get to the church for it started at 10:30am. I’ve never been to a wedding that started that early before but it worked out well actually. My son, Wesley…

  • Crabbing in Newport, Oregon

We felt so incredibly lucky to have accommodations right next to the ocean once again. This time we were staying at a Wyndham time share and resort but we didn’t have to use our points because they have some kind of plan where you can purchase the rooms when they are in the off-season – which we did to the tune of $48/night. Can you imagine? That was the most amazing thing that happened on this trip, I think. We had a 2 bedroom condo for $48. I love it! The kids were ecstatic to be able to go play in the ocean to their hearts content… and then go…
