Trips We've Made

Our trips

  • Winter Fun in the Great White North

In my last post, my son married his dream girl and what a special occasion that was for my family. We were so privileged to have my entire family (except for two of my nieces and their small children) travel from the States to Canada for the wedding of Seth & Jessica. Some of the group. After we sent the newlyweds off on their honeymoon, the family had a few days left to relax have an adventure! We were treated to a wonderful day by my husband’s sister, Meda and brother-in-law, Tim. They are just amazing hosts and we always have such a good time when we are there. Don’t…

  • I’m Not Frozen Yet

It was a foggy day that we arrived in Canada.   The town is very small where are at and the nearest big city is Winnipeg – 3 hours away.  I always marvel at how people landed in such desolate places. What drew them to this particular area? Why did they stay? The ones that we know here are all from Iceland originally so I guess Canada wasn’t any colder than where they came from! (I actually just looked at the weather for Reykjavik, Iceland (30°F) and Winnipeg, Manitoba (21°F).  Canada is colder?  Who would have thought?) Fishing was also an important part of life for the first immigrants. Here…

  • North to Canada

We have arrived…. in Canada. Only 5 days till my oldest son gets married! The next few days we will be doing some preparing for the rest of my family who are to arrive on Thursday and taking care of a few decorations that I still need to do for the rehearsal dinner. We made a few stops along the drive here to the Great White North (Canada). The first was Colorado Springs.  We arrived in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Friday afternoon after driving through the night. We made a stop at the Air Force Academy where we met up with a friend who is a cadet in training there…

  • India Trip – Part IV

She’s coming home! Two weeks and a few days since we sent Serenity off to India where she learned to eat Indian style (with her hands), was able to see wild monkeys running freely in the village, meet the natives and love on the little children.   I have many pictures to share. Some are not the best quality but I love them just the same.   First time to have coconut milk straight from the coconut. Afterwards, you scoop out the meat.     Visiting a very old temple one day where she actually saw someone offering a sacrifice. We are so very thankful to this man and his…

  • India Trip Part III

If you all could hear the pure happiness in my daughter’s voice as she tells me about her days in India, you would know why I am just so happy that she had the opportunity to make this trip. As moms, we desire for our children to have good experiences, to make special memories and to get a broader vision of why we are here on earth. To realize that America has been undeniably blessed but because we have not known hardship for the most part, we have become soft and ungrateful.   Serenity was only in India for a few days before she realized those things. They live a…
