Trips We've Made

Our trips

  • A Visit to American Girl Place

Grandparents have a reputation for spoiling their grandchildren and rightly so.  Like I said in “An Unusual Welcome Home“, our girls were treated royally. Let’s just say there was plenty of sugar being passed around and I don’t mean all hugs and kisses either. Ice cream and ice cream cones were pretty popular that week. 🙂 We took a day trip to Chicago to visit the American Girl doll store. Such fun – even for adults, if you like miniature things. And I do. Isn’t this just adorable? Mini salt & pepper shakers with napkin holder, maple syrup & organize juice pitcher. So cute! The girls all prettied up and…

  • Our Trip to the Great White North, Part II

We managed to leave Manitoba for a few days for a quick trip to Sasketchewan. Oh, it was so good to see old friends. The roads we traveled in Manitoba looked like this and not very safe. The highway was so desolate. No gas stations, no houses, no lights for miles and miles. Not even another car. I was so happy we made it safely to Sask. without ending up in a ditch! I have a new respect for Canadians after our visit. They are pretty tough people. They know they could end up stuck when things are bad so some are sure to have ski pants & boots in…

  • Our Trip to the Great White North, Part I

Well hello everyone! I really didn’t mean to be absent for so long. We’ve been doing some travelling lately – Michigan & Canada. “In the winter,” you say?  Yes, we sure did. We went to our dear friend’s daughter’s wedding in Michigan and had a lovely time.  The bride made her own dress. I am so impressed! We were home for a few days and then it was off to Canada! Specifically Manitoba where we spent 10 wonderful days. Audrey had to go outside on the morning after our arrival and about froze because she wasn’t properly dressed for the weather. I thought it was quite funny that instead of…

  • A Surprise Tea

The reason for my recent layover in Chicago O’Hare airport was because I was paying a visit to my mom and dad.  You see, since I married 24 years ago I have never went to visit them except with the family.  When my kids are small I always found it hard to leave them. But now that they can take of themselves and each other I didn’t feel so bad. 🙂 Mom and dad both have a birthday within a week of each other so I decided to celebrate with them and to take Justus with me for some mom/son time.  I was there a few days before my sister…

  • A Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday

Thanksgiving for me always brings to mind Family Friends Food Thankfulness for the many ways we are Blessed   This year we flew to Pennsylvania for 10 days and spent Thanksgiving with my sister and her family as well as mom and dad. We had some interesting flight times.  We woke from our beds at 3:00 to catch our 6 a.m.morning special flight and would have spent the rest of the day in a fog except the airlines was kind enough to arrange a 5 hour layover for us in Chicago. So we decided to see if we could get all 6 of us people’s that were flying into the…
