What You Do For Someone Who Is Passionate About Homeschooling
Why you take them to a homeschool conference, of course! Banff Springs Hotel, Chateau Lake Louise, beautiful hotels but I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in one so nice as the Opryland Hotel. It was absolutely amazing. The setting was fun, beautiful, unique and romantic… but be forewarned, it is very expensive. We stayed two nights at the Opryland Inn which is located across the street from the hotel but for one night we got to stay at the hotel. We did spend 3 of our days at the hotel because the homeschool conference was located there. Every time we would leave the conference to go for lunch, we…

Our God Has it All Under Control
Was it only a week ago that Russell and I boarded a plane headed for Nashville, Tennessee? Our day started at 2:45am as we had to drive over an hour to reach the Phoenix airport. Early morning flights are not one of my favorite things. I like to get up early but having an actual time-frame that early in the day is not a motivator for me even if I am going somewhere wonderful! Dear sweet Audrey woke up to say one last goodbye to us before we headed out the door. This trip was a little more challenging because Russell was on crutches. He tore his calf muscle about…

Bike Rides and Ski Slopes – All in One Week
We are privileged to have one of the 7 natural wonders of the world in the state of Arizona – the Grand Canyon. It is truly a grand sight. One of our favorite things to do now when we go to the Canyon is to rent bikes and ride along the rim. Everyone can do it; it’s not so close to the rim that you are scared for your children or yourself, for that matter. Believe it or not, we have ski resorts in Arizona – two of them! Each year we travel to the White Mountains for a ski trip. This year was one of the best simply because…

The Almost Perfect Camping Trip
We traveled the Mogollon Rim and finally reached our destination of Knoll Lake where we immediately started unloading the camping gear. But you know how we homeschoolers see a lesson in everything…. 🙂 Explaining how elevation changes can cause a potato chip bag to expand almost to the point of bursting apart. Camping trips never seem to go completely smooth and this one had a few troubles as well. Like who would set a 10 pound bag of ice on our loaves of bread – not only squashing them but saturating them with water from melted ice? Not this boy, I’m sure. Maybe that’s the reason Wesley flashed us…

A Place Where Time Has No Meaning
It was a last minute decision. There was so much to do. Sleeping bags to pack, foams to gather, food to prepare and package , as well as many other things. The thought of doing this seemed almost to be overwhelming coming so closely on the heels of our 4-H EXPO. But we wanted to do something special with our niece Zoe while she was here visiting with us, so we did it. After several hours of preparation we hit the road. The drive was part of the experience. Bumpy dirt roads with plenty of wash boards to jar everything that could be shook. The views from the Mogollon Rim,…
