Choosing the Better Part
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:39-42 So many times I awake in the morning with my mind spinning with all the things I need to accomplish…

VA Tech Testimony
A friend sent us this testimony about her son. The providence of God is so wonderful. God’s care over us is always there but so many times we just don’t recognize it. Dear Friends and Family, I just felt to write a note to all of you concerning the tragedy which occurred here in our town this week. I am overwhelmed and so thankful for all of the phone calls and emails we have received from all of you asking about our family and especially our son, ****. Your concern and caring has meant so much to our family this week, and especially to **** who was closer to this tragedy…

Men's Thinking vs. Women's Thinking
This past week I had the opportunity to hear Sharon Grimes speak. Particularly humorous was what she had to say about how men and women are different. Men tend to think this way: This ONE thing I do… Phillipians 3:13 Women tend to think this way: I can do ALL things… Phillipians 4:13 She then showed a box that had multiple drawers in it. Each drawer was labeled with the different things a man might think about during a day. She held up a rubber ball that represented her husbands brain and said, “When my husband wakes up in the morning his mind is on getting a fire going in…

Susanna Wesley – Mother to John and Charles Wesley
Susanna Wesley lived from 1669-1742. She had 19 children within 21 years although only 10 of them lived beyond childhood years. Kathy McReynolds has written a book called “Susanna Wesley”. It's part of the Women of Faith series and I found it to be well written and an enjoyable read. It is said that Susanna prayed for two hours a day! Here is an excerpt from a letter she wrote to her oldest son Samuel. I exhort you, as I am your faithful friend; and I command you, as I am your parent, to use your utmost diligence to make your calling and election sure; to be faithful to your God; and after I have said…

Oh, the Opportunities We Have
Our homeschool meeting was this week. It was the first time for many of the moms to be there, so each of us stood up, introduced ourselves, said how many kids we had, how many years we've been homeschooling, and what we are looking forward to in homeschooling this year. There were moms at the meeting that have just started homeschooling and are feeling completely overwhelmed. They don't know if they are doing this homeschool thing right. One lady said her little boy is coming home daily with new words he is learning that he should not know. Her heart is aching for him but she is so concerned about her inadequacies that she is reluctant to…
