• Learning About Indoor Salad Gardens with the Castle Keeper Girls

Yesterday marked the last class for the 2016-2017 Castle Keeper year. It was a great way to end the year being outside and learning about growing an indoor salad garden.  Click on picture to be taken to Amazon. Some sample sprouted seeds that we all got to sample.     Seeds soaking in water waiting to be drained, rinsed and planted.   Preparing the gardening bed.       Soil, compost & kelp mixture       Once your seeds have been planted, you cover them with wet newspaper. When you water your seeds you just put the water directly onto the newspaper. Easy peasy.   These girls couldn’t resist…

  • How to Clean Your Kitchen

Sometimes our living spaces can become so out of order that we just don’t even know where to start. We might find every room in a state of disarray but there’s one room in the house that can affect me like no other and that is the kitchen. Yes, the kitchen. When the kitchen has dishes piled up, counters are crusty and cluttered, I can hardly bear it. These times happen when we have had a gathering and since it’s a late night I just go to sleep and at other times it’s for other reasons. But it’s never pleasant to wake up to, no matter the why. Here are…

  • Keeping a Clean & Tidy Home

Just a few weeks ago I wrote about making your days count and living well. I love this topic because I believe it is so very important to have a vision for your family – knowing what you want your family life to look like and then to work towards that end.  If you haven’t read that post, I would encourage you to go back and read why you should write down or at the very least have in your mind your ideals of what you desire your family life to look like. When we have clarity it will affect our day to day and our approach to everything we…

  • A Castle Keeper Winter Party

What a wonderful evening the Castle Keeper girls hosted this past Friday. The girls planned everything and did a perfectly lovely job.   We even did it in the pergola. We had a giant tarp that went over the top, shade cover on all sides and then covered with plastic. But then we needed heat inside and so we added the two wood burning stoves that we use when we go hunting. It worked! It was about 40°F outside but inside it was not bad at all. Some of the tables had a little more cold to deal with than others but overall I think everyone thought it was just…

  • The CK Girls Visit Horseshoe Bend & Lake Powell

I had heard of Horseshoe Bend a few years ago and have had it on my bucket list to visit ever since then and so after touring Lower Antelope Canyon and a dinner at El Tapatio, we drove to Horseshoe Bend which is only a few miles from the town of Page.   It was not what we expected. We are really not into crowds out in nature and this place had plenty. I felt like we on a pilgrimage with the trail of people going to this scenic spot stretching out for quite a ways.   Everyone wants to be there at sunset and especially photographers. Unfortunately, there were…
