  • Seeing the Special in the Everday

I didn't feel too well Monday morning.  So, as I lay abed with two pillows at my head, my little girl, SH age 8, first brought me a get well balloon –   and then… breakfast in bed.   With this kind of treatment I rapidly felt better. How blessed I am to have such a sweet, thoughtful girl.  Girls naturally fulfill the nurturing role much better then boys do.  SH is always thinking about us around lunch time.  Many times she supplies the fuel that keeps us going mid-day – as evidenced by this picture. I am blessed.  How often I overlook that fact in my days.  One of my problems, (I won't tell you how many…

  • Photos of our Elk Hunt – October, 2006

Well I am finally able to get some of our hunting pictures posted.  If you want to read about our elk hunting trip it's here under the title Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig.   The first night at camp everyone brings enough soup for their family and then we set it up like a smorgasbord and get to try all the different soup's.       At hunting camp we have a great time -the kids get to do some puttering around on the quads (when they're not being used for hunting),     play with friends   and cousins (WE age 11, EJ age 10).   We even got to…

  • Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig

There were about 40 of us that went camping this past Thursday.  Ten of the campers had elk tags which is a prized tag in Arizona.  It's prized because the elk are usually bugling and it makes for easier hunting since you can locate them a little more effortlessly.     When they're bugling it's a sign that they are in the rut (mating season).  The bulls bugle to each other as a challenge because they are wanting to gather more cows in their herd.  The bull elk are beautiful with their antlers and to hear them bugle is awesome.   The Arizona Game & Fish pushed the season back another week so the elk were almost…

  • What Next?

I know that I said we make our own electricity in this post about our house but honestly folks, we do have indoor plumbing.  This is just a picture showing what boys in the country think is fun.  Truly!  Okay, okay, if you still don't believe me look at the next picture.   Isn't this classic?  I'm in trouble now that she's discovered the joys of pulling a toilet paper roll down to the very last square!  One thing I can be grateful for is she hasn't discovered  there's water in the toilet.  It's probably because she's too short. Now do you believe me when I say we have indoor…

  • My Oldest Is Now 16

My oldest is turning 16 tomorrow. I remember when I was that age so well (or as well as I remember most things) and to think I have a son that old. He’s been a good boy and is maturing daily. He always asks if there is anything I need done, if I need anything carried to the car, unloads my groceries, always holds the door open for me when we are going into a store and has even shut the door when I‘ve gotten into the car. (wink) He loves the Lord and by God's grace is not swayed by peer pressure. Does he sound perfect or what? But alas,…
