Our family life - daily life updates

  • A Touch of Winter

Old Man Winter stopped by just long enough last night for Serenity to make this:  The snowflakes were quite big.   This morning the view from our front window was stunning. The snow will most likely all be gone by this afternoon.  It usually is here for a day before it melts.  That’s one thing I like about where we live – we get a touch of snow but not weeks and weeks.

  • Math Achievement

Seth (age 16) just eats up math.  His main interests seem to be math and geography; if we go to town he usually brings his atlas books along or his math. Last week Seth got to be involved in a math competition.  All of the area schools send their top students to the competition.  There were overall about 130 students that participated.  Only 5 were homeschool students. Prior to the competition there is a research question posted on the Internet.  It is not a math problem that you just give an answer to.  You have to figure out the process that could be used to get the answer, if there is an answer.  (I know I probably…

  • Me and My Home Remedies!

I was only trying to help.  On Saturday night my hubby was suffering from plugged sinuses that caused him to feel he had a severe toothache.  I woke up at 3:00a.m. to take care of Audrey.  He was lying there awake not being able to sleep because of the pain.  He said he had taken 2 Ibuprofen at 1:00a.m. and that it hadn’t helped at all.  I know he was desperate because he NEVER touches the stuff. In my tender compassion I got up to go through some of my health books to see what I could do help him.  One said to take a certain essential oil (Purification) and rub…

  • May I Introduce You To…

When I first started Treasuring the Moments I was unsure whether to use my children’s first names or not.  To be on the safe side I didn’t.  Recently, I asked a fellow blogger her opinion.  Her thoughts were that using first names should be fine but that she might not use the last name. I made the decision to use my childrens first names.  I think it’s a lot easier to remember a name than initials too.  So without further adieu, may I present to you our family. Russell, my dh Elisabeth , yours truly Seth – age 16 Zachary – age 14 Wesley – age 11 Serenity – age 9…

  • A Special Sunday

On December 31st we had our youngest child AE, age 1 dedicated.  Our church is meeting right now at a senior center and so we thought to make it feel more special we would have the dedication here at our home.   We invited the people from church to join us (about 40-50 of them).  Another friend of mine also had her two little girls dedicated at the same time. Afterwards we had lunch which consisted of two types of soup, curry made by my friend from South Africa, salad, rolls and various desserts. I was thrilled that my mom and dad were still here in Arizona for the holidays.  My husband’s parents live in the…
