Flash Flooding After the Goodwin Fire
Well I hope this post doesn’t bore you but I thought I’d let you see some photos and video footage of flash flooding in Arizona. The volume of water in this particular flash flood is specifically due to the Goodwin Fire. In Arizona, because of the scarcity of rain we love our monsoon season with its thunderstorms and the moisture it brings that waters the earth and greens everything up for a season. It brings the temperatures down and just feels so refreshing. Wednesday we had an epic monsoon storm. Without much warning (no sprinkling at all), the sky just let loose and didn’t stop for about 30 minutes. Since…

The Goodwin Fire Showed God is in Control of Even the Elements
We arrived home from our cross country trip to Indiana where we took a group of young people to a youth camp. It was a good time as always but after we came home I was anxious to walk our property, so curious to see exactly where the fire burned. The valley where we live has been forever changed. Where once it was so thick with brush you could hardly walk through it, it is now so open that we are seeing areas that we never saw before. Before, when I saw an animal I knew it was a larger one such as a deer but now my brain is…

How God Kept the Goodwin Fire From Burning Our Home
Fire, an evacuation, escaping out a back way and the miraculous hand of God. All these things happened in the last few days. It all started Saturday afternoon around 4pm. A fire began in Pine Flats, Arizona about 7 miles from our house. That evening we could see some smoke. On Monday it looked like this from the front of our house. There was quite a bit of activity in the skies as helicopters and airplanes flew overhead to release water and slurry on the fire that was a few mountain ranges over. We continued to watch the smoke and at times it seemed as if it…

Special Memories and Moments
Hello my friends. I’m still alive and have even managed to squeeze a little time…. …a very little amount of time to decluttering. I think I’ve sent off about 4 bags to Goodwill. That felt good but perseverance is key. I must press on! 🙂 Graduations and entertaining have been the norm around here lately. Fun food idea I saw at my nephew’s graduation party. I loved what this graduate did. She went around to thrift shops collecting brass decorations and used the items she found as well as succulents as part of her theme…. and all the table runners were made by her. Very cute. This great display…

A Family Evening and a Gourmet Burger Bar
We have been so blessed to have the newlyweds here for the last month. I think they’re enjoying their stay in the newly completed cabin (VRBO) very much, so we’re happy about that. Their stay here is coming to an end since they leave next week for the east and then up to Canada. I have so enjoyed having them here and getting to know my daughter-in-law, Jessica better. She’s a sweetheart with the most giving heart, always bringing over something for us whether it be a fresh batch of cookies from the oven, a fresh baked loaf of bread or some juicy watermelon cut up on a plate for…
