Found: Couch Just for You
Lately I’ve found a few items that were left on the side of the road for the garbage man – left behind by tenants who had been renting from us. Blame it on Thrifty Decor Chick, Centsational Girl, My Repurposed Life or a dozen others but they inspire me with their do it yourself techniques. So, I’m going to try a few things on these little “treasures” or are they “junk”(?). I suppose that remains to be determined but I’m excited about trying. So yesterday I get a call from my son who just happens to be out in the woods bear hunting. He said, “Mom, we just seen a couch out here in…

Week in Review 4/10 – 4/16/11
Most people are amazed that chicks can be shipped through the mail but how about bees? Zachary ordered 20,000 of them and has officially become a beekeeper. I’ll show you more in a future post. This is half of the bees. Zachary & all his assistants. With a visit to Tucson this week I was able to see for the first time my new little grand niece. She is so precious and adorable. Can’t you tell? 🙂 We had a celebration of wedding anniversaries while there – ours is this Friday (22 years) and my sister’s is Sunday (30 years). My good friend, Tina, hosted a dinner in her backyard…

Week in Review 3-27 – 4-2-2011
A Week in Review has been missing around here lately but it’s back today! Zachary is going to have his own bee hives. He has 20,000 bees coming this month and 2 bee hives set up to receive them. He also has taken it upon himself with my deepest gratitude blessing to teach his sister the bee business, too. Discussing bee habits. Visitors from Canada came by for a few days and bestowed upon us some donuts – something that has never been seen in our home before but was eaten with gusto. Of course, it goes without saying that Miss Audrey liked them! With the help of a few…

A Lapidarist Comes to Visit
Last week we were introduced to a hobby/occupation I had never heard about. Lapidary According to Wikipedia… A lapidary (the word means “concerned with stones”) is an artist or artisan who forms stone, mineral, gemstones, and other suitably durable materials into decorative items such as engraved gems, including cameos, or cabochons, and faceted designs. If I use the term lapidary or lapidarist incorrectly, please let me know. I’m a little confused about what’s right. Anyways, this old acquaintance of my husband’s family was here from Canada. He’s in his 80’s but he drove himself down the west coast, teaching lapidary as he went. We were able to spend a short…

Skiing Arizona in March
What a wonderful few days we spent this week in the high country of Arizona. There is a ski resort, ran by Apaches, that is still open for business although the snow was icy in parts and slushy in others. Optimum snow it was not but we had a good time anyways! I figure if everyone could ski on that snow they would be incredible on decent snow. There was quite a group of us and we got in under a school rate. A great price for ski rentals, lift ticket & condo made us all very happy skiers. 🙂 Here we’re standing in front of the condo. It was very…
