Youth Camp 2014
We are home after a 3,000 mile odyssey across the United States to Indiana where we attended a church youth camp. And lest you think it was us that were the campers, it was our children. We went as workers. It was a wonderful time. And since some of you might enjoy seeing pictures of our trip, I’m going to share just a few of the over 200 photos I took. 🙂 We didn’t drive the church van this year but took along 3 extra passengers in our Suburban which has almost 300,000 miles on it! We drove 24 hours and landed in St. Louis for an overnight stay. Then…

Good Times with Some Wonderful Young People
Since I have 3 older boys, I have had plenty of young men stay with us. This week though we get to host 4 lovely young ladies that belong to our Castle Keeper club from afar – 2 from Wisconsin & 2 from Oklahoma). Their visit started off with a lot of activity – youth meetings at our church and gatherings here at the ranch. We had about 22 girls stay at our house over the weekend. Sleeping bags, hair, blankets, bobby pins, suitcases and sundry other items were all over the place. I’m sure you know how girls can be! Near the house we have a ravine between 2…

A Visit to American Girl Place
Grandparents have a reputation for spoiling their grandchildren and rightly so. Like I said in “An Unusual Welcome Home“, our girls were treated royally. Let’s just say there was plenty of sugar being passed around and I don’t mean all hugs and kisses either. Ice cream and ice cream cones were pretty popular that week. 🙂 We took a day trip to Chicago to visit the American Girl doll store. Such fun – even for adults, if you like miniature things. And I do. Isn’t this just adorable? Mini salt & pepper shakers with napkin holder, maple syrup & organize juice pitcher. So cute! The girls all prettied up and…

A Most Unusual Welcome Home
I just returned last night from my visit to mom and dad’s. We had such a good time and of course, the girls were spoiled! But I’ll tell you all about that in the next post. Today I want to celebrate Russell & my 25th wedding anniversary. Yesterday, April 22, was the day we were married 25 years ago in a double wedding with my sister and her hubby. I know it may seem odd to be out-of-town on such a big day but that seemed to be the only dates to get back to mom and dad’s, so thus it was. When I arrived home from the airport my…

Remember Our Lord’s Death, Burial & Resurrection.
I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. It’s certainly a time for reflection as we think about the price our precious Lord Jesus paid for us but then it is also a time to rejoice in that …their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Hebrews 10:17 For several years we’ve had a tradition of making Resurrection Cookies with my two youngest ones. Since I’m all the way in Illinois with Audrey, seeing my parents this year over the Easter holiday, I went ahead and did it with just her. Faithful Provisions has the instructions if you want to make your own. Beating the nuts which represents the beating Jesus took. Audrey…
