• A Fall Mantle

I stored all my Fall decorations in some Rubbermaid containers which made it nice and easy to know just where I had everything.  Taking everything out of the box I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with my Fall Mantle but when I finished I was quite pleased with how it all turned out. I was at a rustic wedding recently (the wedding where  Zachary played his cello at and then had the major car accident on his way home) anyways, at this wedding they mixed rustic and refined looks together.   It gave me the idea to use this pretty little doiley on my rustic mantle.  The doiley was handmade and…

  • Summer Mantle 2011

Summer Mantle Fun I took down my Spring Mantle (which was never completed 🙁 ) the other day and then heard I had a crowd headed to my place. (Memorial Day)  Not wanting to leave it bare, I needed to get something on my mantle quick.  What to do?  A few ideas started spinning in my head and in just a short while I was able to complete it and have a lot of fun in the doing. Close-up… I cut some branches from our plum tree and placed them in a mason jar.  I’m not sure how long they’ll last but there’s plenty more I can cut.  The tree desperately needs pruning anyways.…

  • Working on My Winter Mantle (Again!)

After not changing my mantle decor for so many years (and me a lover of change! Shocking!), I have been playing around with my mantle since Christmas.  Would you like to see the transitions its made in just two months time?  You do?  Good, because I’m ready to do a little show-n-tell. 🙂 My first attempt at a Christmas/Winter mantle started like this. I built the gate, which I talked about here. I am having trouble with the formatting here so I’m just going to add a bunch of extra spaces here to get it to align properly. Just a little more and there,  it’s done. I thought it looked a little…

  • Sprucing up the Master Bedroom

We’ve now lived 15 years,as of December, in a home we designed and built ourselves. (Or rather my hubby built it.  I just kept him well fed.)  The 15 years has went by so quickly.  So quickly that there are still projects unfinished after all this time! 🙂  I’m sure you know how it is.  You just get used to how things look and only get to things when they really need done. Like my bedroom…  We left it white all those years ago because I wanted to paint it but I didn’t know what color.  I’m still undecided. 🙂  I also wanted to make a nice little seating area in there but that never happened.  You getting…

  • Working on a Winter Mantle

Over the weekend I started working on decorating my mantle for winter.  Until a few months ago I had not changed my mantle decor for years.  Yep, you read that right.  Years.  But I liked how it looked and wasn’t thinking about changing it seasonally.  So decorating my mantle for the winter season is new territory to me. I got the idea for this gate from Funky Junk Interiors.  Here is her gate here. We had this old fencing we picked up several years ago for a homeschool co-op day we had.  I wanted to save it but it has slowly been being used for firewood.  Fortunately, we still had…
