• Photos of a Cowboy Kid

Probably inspired by Serenity’s photo shoot with Audrey, I decided to try one myself.  Usually, I take the children to a professional photographer but with funds being tight, I’ve been hesitating.  Too long as a matter of fact.  I like to get a picture of them when they turn 13.  That didn’t happen with Wesley and he’s now 14.  Oh, dear!  I also like to get a picture of them at age 6.  Since Justus turned 6 in April, it was time for him.  I had the clothes I wanted him to wear and so one day this past week, we decided to just take the pictures.   Getting pictures of children is…

  • Time for our Annual Elk Hunt

The elk hunting season is upon us and so the conversation at our house has centered around camping and hunting for the last few weeks.  Wesley is trying to get his hunting gear in order.  He was referred to a site called CamoFire and he faithfully checks it when he wakes up.  They offer new deals on hunting gear at least once a day.  If you have an avid hunter in the family, you might want to check it out. Seth is coming home from Ohio for the occasion. He’ll be here a week and then he returns to Ohio for about 3 weeks and then he’s coming home!!  He had his…

  • Quick Trip to Boston

I’ve been somewhat distracted from writing lately due to other distractions.  Just this past weekend Russell & I took a quick trip to Boston.  There was a book show that we wanted to check out as a potential source for inventory for our online book business. Now maybe I can’t say definitively that Boston is not my kind of town since I was only there for about 4 days, but I sure was longing for home.  Give me the wide open spaces, less noise and cleaner air.  The people were quite friendly – friendlier than I think you would find Arizonans but what bothered me the most was the immorality.  Everywhere you looked…

  • Wesley Graduates from the 8th Grade

I have a few  pictures of the 8th grade celebration we had this past weekend.  A surprise, I know that I would post pictures. 🙂  Wesley went through the graduation ceremony for jr. high graduates our states homeschool committee puts together each year.  Since celebrating milestones in life is important to me we participated in it. I don’t have any pictures of Wesley at the actual ceremony.  They were too dark since we were at a distance from him.  But I did get this one of Zachary and a friend.  They look very guilty, don’t you think?  They were making plans for when Wesley’s name was announced – and I caught them!  It…

  • Swimmin' at the Crick

I have a few minutes before I need to get busy in the kitchen cooking up things for the graduation party we’re having tomorrow night, so I thought I’d post some pictures of the  swimming hole we went to yesterday.  I love the diversity of Arizona.  Hot burning desert, sand, cactus and rocks usually come to mind when you think of Arizona but it really isn’t all that.  I think I’ve heard it’s the 3rd state in the nation for its diversity – California & Florida being #1 and #2.  To find complete privacy we hiked about 1/2 mile.    With it being over 100°F  we were good and hot…
