Thanks for joining me as I recount our recent visit to New York City. It’s a very interesting place. One of the oldest cities, it was named New Amsterdam by the Dutch in 1626. My previous posts are here.  Day 1, Day 2 & Day 3. The Federal Reserve building which is said to have the largest gold repository in the world with 7,700 tons of gold bouillon. They give tours of the building and the vaults that hold the gold.   The Brooklyn Bridge is another suspension bridge in NYC. There are many bridges there! We went for a visit to Ground Zero where the World Trade Center used to be. I had purchased tickets ahead of time which is a must otherwise you will be standing in line for a long time depending on the time of day you choose to visit. You need at least 3 hours to see it all and you could easily spend 4-5 hours. They have done a great job…

Day 2 in New York Our hosts prepared a special breakfast for us the next morning and so we joined them in their apartment where we not only had a tasty breakfast but were treated to a few songs on the violin and harp. It was beautiful.   The day was chilly and rainy but armed with several umbrellas we took to the streets and headed for the subway. There were 13 of us non-locals so it was nice that our friends came along to help us figure everything out. I feel sorry for them when I think of them trying to make sure everyone was on the right train…
