Finding the Right Math Program
At the time I was learning about Visual Spatial Learners (see this post and this post), I found out about a free online math program called MEP. It’s a spiral program versus a mastery based program and goes from K-12. My son had been doing Math-U-See. We had switched him over from Saxon to MUS because he found Saxon tedious. I’m using Saxon with two of my other children and they both like it quite well. But it wasn’t for Zachary. I had my ds in a lower level of MUS because that’s where he placed when he took the placement test online. He found it frustrating because he said he knew what they were teaching…

Sweet & Sour Sauce w/ Meatballs
Sweet & Sour Sauce 2 cup brown sugar 1 cup ketchup 1/2 cup vinegar 2 Tbsp. soy sauce 1 cup water Mix ingredients together, pour over meatballs or spareribs. *optional – thicken with 2 Tbsp. plus 2 tsp. of cornstarch mixed with 4 Tbsp. cold water; add to above Meatballs Ground Beef, venison, or elk oatmeal or fine bread crumbs egg(s) ketchup 1 pkg. onion soup mix couple shakes of worcestershire sauce Mix all together. Form into balls. Brown meatballs. Pour sauce over meatballs and cook 1 hour at 350°. Serve over rice.

I’ve been reading the book Kept for the Master’s Use by Frances Ridley Havergal. She wrote the well-loved song Take My Life and Let It Be. Soft Molasses Cookies 1 cup butter 1 cup sugar, plus more for coating the dough 1/2 cup molasses 2 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 3/4 tsp. ground ginger 2 large eggs 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the molasses while mixing at slow speed, then the baking soda, salt, and spices. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
