The Effects of Rain in Arizona
Slowly we’re completing some of these backyard projects. This week, one area they focused on is where the swing set will be going.
Two layers of weed fabric was put down in case of punctures from the gravel.
This is the first layer. It was breezy so they used the shovels to hold the fabric down.
Then a second and heavier duty weed fabric was put down.
The gravel all placed.
But then… we had the most torrential downpour that I ever remember having. We had over 3″ of rain in about 30 minutes!
So many areas were flooded including the swing set area.
Our basement (It’s a storage area.) had water pouring in through the brick walls.
This picture is quite a while after they had already been vacuuming up the water…
…and siphoning it. That worked quite well!
Everything is all dry again and the big puddles/ponds are gone so it goes away quite quickly but yesterday we received another 1″ of rain but we’re not complaining. We love it and it’s great for that grass.
That swing set though. It’ll take a while to complete. The instruction manual says with 3 people working on it you will need 8 hours. No one was volunteering for that project! Screws, nuts, bolts – too many to count.

Oh my! Well, I sure hope no damage to the books you have stored in there for sale. I’m sure your grass is loving it and drinking it up very gladly. Sure love seeing the progress. Thanks for posting!
