Castle Keepers

Meet One of Our Delightful Castle Keeper Girls

Sometimes your dreams really do become reality. That is how I feel about our girls club Castle Keepers. For years I had thought about starting a girls club based on the Keepers at Home book that Keepers of the Faith published. But I just couldn’t get into it. I guess I had my own ideas and my own way of doing things. To be sure though, I did thumb through the book many times and received inspiration. They’ve done a great job with their program.

After thinking about it for many years, I decided to just do it. I knew I would have regrets if I let this period in my oldest daughters life slip by without ever attempting it. And thus, 3 years ago Castle Keepers was born.

It has been one of the most satisfying projects I have ever taken on. We started with 12 local girls as well as 4 girls that were out of state in 2013. Now, in this last year, the number of girls that weren’t local jumped to 18.

And one of the best parts about all this is that the girls love it! We’ve had a few girls drop out for various reasons but that has been the minority thus far.

I like change and so I’ve tried different approaches with the girls. If something seemed to be dragging or getting old, we tried something new.

I just love these girls. They have such beautiful hearts and they put a lot of effort each month into completing the various challenges they are given. And that brings me to Quezia.

Quezia is from Brazil who joined Castle Keepers in 2014. Though we have never met in person we are able to talk via the app Voxer and I am blessed every time I hear her voice. I don’t know if there could be a voice any sweeter than hers. Someday we hope to meet, and with my husband on board with that thought as well, it just may happen. (He likes to move mountains when it comes to things like this!)

Here’s my sweet friend.

And I just have to show you some of the challenges she has completed with Castle Keepers.

I loved her little fairy garden.

And how can someone learn crochet and make these little shoes all in the same month?!

Her hand lettered invitation was amazing.quezia5

And check out the swan sitting on a “nest” of spun sugar.

Simply lovely.quezia6

Recently she sent some friends, who also live in Brazil and are a part of CK these hand lettered and hand painted bookmarks.

I am still trying to comprehend that someone can actually make these without using a printer. I have asked her to make some for me. You see I have another dream for my Castle Keeper girls but I’ll have to tell you about that another time. 🙂

I love them! Don’t you?!

The culinary challenge this month for the Castle Keeper girls was to decorate a cake. Although Quezia always does a remarkable job, as you can see from the pictures above, she went all out on this challenge.

May I present to you the Castle Keeper castle as created by Quezia!

When she posted her creation, she added the following…

“I made this cake to dedicate for all of us!”

“It have been such a true blessing for me to have joined the Castle Keepers group!!”

This week we will be having our end-of-the-year party and pie auction for CK.

Maybe next year, if God wills, Quezia can be here to celebrate with us!

If you haven’t seen the pie auction from our very first year, 2013/2014, I think you would enjoy watching it. We had a great time. We were so shocked at how much the pies were selling for that we all were rather giddy. 🙂
