Our God Has it All Under Control

Was it only a week ago that Russell and I boarded a plane headed for Nashville, Tennessee? Our day started at 2:45am as we had to drive over an hour to reach the Phoenix airport. Early morning flights are not one of my favorite things. I like to get up early but having an actual time-frame that early in the day is not a motivator for me even if I am going somewhere wonderful!

Dear sweet Audrey woke up to say one last goodbye to us before we headed out the door.

This trip was a little more challenging because Russell was on crutches. He tore his calf muscle about 1 1/2 weeks ago and was unable to put his full weight on his foot. This meant I pulled our two pieces of luggage everywhere we went, along with a canvas bag that held my purse, camera, books and other miscellaneous items. By the end of any trip we make it seems to  be the catch-all for items that can’t fit into the suitcase and it always seems to weigh at least 30 pounds!

We boarded our flight to Los Angeles and went through the motions of watching the safety video. Remember the part where they say, “If there is a loss of electrical power, floor-level lighting will guide you towards the exit. Please take a moment to locate your nearest two exits, keeping in mind that the closest exits may be behind you.”?

It sounds good, as if they have everything covered and completely under control.

We landed in Los Angeles and there were no overhead lights that came on and no floor-level lighting either. As we are all waiting for the doors to open so we can deplane, the flight attendant comes on the intercom system to say how sorry she is that we have no lights as they have had a complete power failure.

I guess it’s a good thing it was morning time with plenty of light streaming in through the windows.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:3

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night, shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22

And HE has it all under control.

We never fear or wonder if tomorrow there will be a sun because our God’s Word never fails.

let there be light

Isn’t He marvelous?
