A Place Where Time Has No Meaning
It was a last minute decision. There was so much to do. Sleeping bags to pack, foams to gather, food to prepare and package , as well as many other things. The thought of doing this seemed almost to be overwhelming coming so closely on the heels of our 4-H EXPO.
But we wanted to do something special with our niece Zoe while she was here visiting with us, so we did it.
After several hours of preparation we hit the road. The drive was part of the experience. Bumpy dirt roads with plenty of wash boards to jar everything that could be shook.
The views from the Mogollon Rim, which gained attention when Zane Grey wrote about it in his western novels, were majestic.
We finally reached our destination. A place at the end of the road so to speak.(A little rain doesn’t detour us. ๐ )
Solitude. Peacefulness. where the beauty of creation is the main attraction.
A most beautiful and tranquil lake where the sound of the oar is the loudest noise as we paddle along. Trout making splashes of sound as they break the surface in search of their evening meal.
A few hopeful fisherman stand on the bank in hopes that they will be rewarded with a nibble on their fishing line.
ย What time is it? Does anyone really care? We are caught in a moment of time when nightfall coming down on us is the only timepiece we need.
The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them. –Psalms 89:11

Looks so peaceful!
We read about Betty Zane just the other day and her heroic race to fetch ammo from her brother’s cabin (Col Ebenezer Zane) and carry it back to Fort Henry during Revolutionary War. ๐

I had never heard of Betty Zane before so I had to look her up. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing that bit of info.

Looks like a wonderful place to go. I remember reading in Zane Grey books…but neat to see real life photos and makes me want to read again his discriptions. ๐
