My Rustic Fall Mantle for 2014
It’s not officially fall but for me August always signifies Autumn so that’s when my decorations went up – sometime in the last part of the month. Since I’ve been on this quest of trying to learn some basics of decorating, I’ve had so much fun changing my mantle with the seasons. I do have a storage container that I keep fall decorations in but then I also “shop” my house which makes it possible for me to introduce different elements into my mantle decor each season. Maybe I’ll run out of ideas eventually, I don’t know, but for now I’m going with it.
That 1800’s looking man in the photo is actually my son. Yes, it sure is. He’s a hunting guide in the Canadian bush. That’s where he is right now and I heard they got snow yesterday! We hardly get to talk to him and I’m starting to miss him pretty much(!) but it will be another month-and-a-half before he’s home.
My moss-covered letter usually makes an appearance on my mantle this time of year. See how I made it here.
I just love this vintage bucket that I purchased many years ago. Currently it’s on my hearth.
Have you decorated for fall yet?

I like it! And I think the picture of Seth is appropriate. I have one of Anna and Kara dressed up for the re-enactment we performed in that I want to use in the same manner.
