Since my brother comes from Tucson every year, whether it is our turn to have Thanksgiving with my parents or not, it is a week, almost of thanksgiving meals…just not with the turkey. We found early on that we got tired of turkey to celebrate with turkey starting before the actual day. To me, it’s all about family,(and friends) and spending quality time each day with the family that celebrates Thanksgiving and of course, our daily thanksgiving to our Lord who has given us the gift of each special member of our families and our friends and so many other blessings.

Kaitlyn, We did have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with extended family on Thanksgiving day, so that’s why I thought I should plan something different. I do love having a traditional turkey dinner. I think that’s pretty special, too.

Sounds like a Thanksgiving with big adjustments. My mom always has Thanksgiving the Saturday before the actual day, so that everyone can go to the in-laws. Our Pyatskowit Thanksgiving consists of Joel’s dad, his 2 brothers and sister and all of their families. So, that comes to roughly 70 people. We have a traditional turkey dinner with wild rice (since it’s a traditional Menominee food) and pies for dessert. I like to make a turkey for our own family, too, so that we can have left-overs and turkey soup! (Just doesn’t seem like Thanksgiving without left-overs.) 😉 Happy Thanksgiving!
