Our Family,  Trips We've Made

Yes, This is My Last Post About the Subject – Youth Camp in Ohio – Part IV

Saying goodbye to everyone after a great week, and leaving camp for the last time (it’ll be a new location next year), we were all in a state of contentment as we headed for Michigan to a friend’s high school graduation party when about 30 minutes later, we were stranded on the side of the road…  I’m still not sure what part went out – the idler arm pulley??  (I have been informed by my husband that there is no such thing as an idler arm pulley. However, he never did tell me what was the problem!) That ended up being a 2 1/2 hour stop.

Because of the storm and loss of electricity, the Auto Zone was closed and the closest town with the part we needed was 20 minutes away.  Hitchhiking was an option but then someone we knew drove by, saw us and stopped.  How fitting that his truck should have painted on it “God’s Helping Hands”.  While the dear husband was driven by God’s Helping Hands to the auto parts store 20 minutes away, the most extraordinary thing happened, another good Samaritan, that we did not know, stopped and gave us a few bottles of ice-cold water and Gatorade. You could say we all were rather shocked by this kind deed.

We were now ready to take off again when… the tumbler assembly where you put your key into, basically fell out of the van door.  I’m sure Russell’s eyes were going a little wonky by now. 🙂

We finally arrived at the party.  Oh! Did I neglect to mention that we also had a blow-out before we reached the Michigan state line and before we arrived at the party?  sigh…

The graduation party was for a friend of my boys’, who we all think the world of.

After a very short weekend, we headed for home…

…and after 36 hours of driving and another tire issue, we arrived safely home at 3 o’clock.

That’s 3 a.m. A.M.!!!  That’s very early in the morning, just in case you missed that point.  We were not feeling too perky the next day but we had animals that needed us and were so happy to see us.  Don’t you agree that my little beauty looks very happy that we’re finally home?  Ohhh yes, the chickens were all doing a happy dance in the barnyard when they heard their benevolent owner (ahem, that’s me btw) was back in town.

I’m happy to see you, too, you gorgeous thing.
