India Trip Part III

If you all could hear the pure happiness in my daughter’s voice as she tells me about her days in India, you would know why I am just so happy that she had the opportunity to make this trip.

As moms, we desire for our children to have good experiences, to make special memories and to get a broader vision of why we are here on earth. To realize that America has been undeniably blessed but because we have not known hardship for the most part, we have become soft and ungrateful.

Serenity was only in India for a few days before she realized those things. They live a simple life in India. They are poor – but they are happy and thankful for what they have.

My son was recently in India and said that as a culture the people are very humble and gentle. They have an attitude of respect towards others. You may remember that Mahatma Ghandi was from that country and led India to independence.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world. –Mahatma Gandhi

My heart has been with Serenity. I love hearing from her when she’s able to correspond. I love getting her pictures and videos and I am so incredibly happy that she has been able to have this experience. So I hope you enjoy all the posts that I will be putting on here of her trip.

Although she does not speak much English, Serenity felt a bond with this young lady who is already married and has a child.

This girl is the sister of the one above. She gave Serenity some Indian money as a gift.

When visiting a museum in the last few days, there were a group of school kids also touring.  She felt the kids that were in there keep staring at her and she felt like they were closing in on her, so it was a little unnerving. She avoided eye contact for awhile but finally she looked at one of the girls and the girl started asking her where she was from, etc. Then she asked if they could get a picture with her. I guess that has happened a fair bit as well as being asked for her autograph.

This past Sunday, Serenity was back in the city and was asked to speak or sing at the church. She chose to speak. 🙂 The Sunday School kids presented her with a bouquet of flowers. So thoughtful and sweet. And talk about being made to feel welcomed!

And to wrap up today’s post, here’s a picture that melts my heart.
