Scrapbooking Recipes & Teaching Boys How to Shine Shoes

Did you think there were only a few ways to enjoy popcorn?

Cheese?

Caramel?

Plain?

We found out in December with the challenge issued to our Castle Keeper girls, the variety of ways you can season and flavor popcorn.

Serenity made a delicious Pumpkin Pie Spice Caramel Popcorn with White Chocolate.

and Audrey made Marshmallow Caramel Popcorn.

There were a great variety made and all the girls brought a sample to the next meeting for everyone to try.

14 different kinds.

Unfortunately, I was unable to make the meeting because of a cough.

A kind of cough I have never had before.  But I’m sure you don’t care to hear about THE COUGH.

So on with what the girls did at their class.

030

They put their creative skills to good use and scrapbooked recipes.  Everyone printed off recipes to share with the other girls.

While the girls were busy being crafty….

…my hubby, son and another dad were teaching the young boys how to shine their shoes.

Some of the shoes required quite a bit of elbow grease to get them to shine…

…but they did in the end.

I was thankful for the men who stepped in and helped with the class.  To me that makes them great because they were willing.

I know not all dads could do this but if the willingness is there, I think that makes them a great dad.

It is not enough to just say relationships are important; we must prove it by investing time in them.

And sometimes time seems in short supply, doesn’t it?

We get so busy being a mom with all of our various responsibilities, especially if we’re homeschooling, that it’s easy to not set aside some special time just to have fun. At least for me.

My husband and I try to make a conscious effort to spend the evenings just with the kids but to be honest, we miss the mark many times.

This will show you how it can be.  It takes us about a year 🙂 to finish a read-aloud book that we read only at night.  Pitiful, I know.

Have you figured out a solution for your family?  Do you have special nights you set aside to do something special with the kids?

The girls and boys classes always look like lots of fun. And I agree about the time. We don’t plan every night to be family night cause we know that is impossible with certain schedules but we do try to have some times throughout each week for playing a game together, or ping pong, or some form of interaction with the kids. Now that they are getting older sometimes it’s just sitting around talking, and those are some of my favorite times with them. 🙂

Yes, we do have a lot of fun with Castle Keepers & Defenders.

I know your family is so good about spending time together; that is so wonderful. You’re a good example for me.

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
